Weaver Top Striker
November 05, 2019 | Soccer
PULLMAN, Wash. – For the first time this season star forward Morgan Weaver was named the Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Week as announced by the conference office Tuesday afternoon. Weaver became the third Cougar to earn a weekly award in 2019 joining Averie Collins (Sept. 10) and Brianna Alger (Aug. 27 & Sept. 24). For Weaver, the award was her fourth career honor having earned three in 2018 including the final two of the season.
In one of the finest weekends in Washington State history, Weaver put on a show in her final two career regular season home games as the senior dominated the offensive end to lead the Cougs to a pair of 4-1 wins over Utah and Colorado. After struggling to find the back of the net coming into the week, Weaver was a nearly a one-woman wrecking crew over the weekend as she accounted for seven of the eight goals scored with six goals and one assist. Getting the ball rolling, Weaver started fast and never stopped against Utah, scoring just 5:51 into the game. She would help put the game away in the second half with an assist and a second goal for her second multi-goal game of the year.
The performance on Thursday was just the tip of the iceberg of the epic weekend the striker would have as Weaver went supernova on senior day with a record performance. Scoring the second-fastest goal of the season, Weaver put the Cougars on top 2:26 into the game for the first of a record four goals in the game. After just missing out on adding to her tally in the first half, Weaver put the game away in a 10-minute flurry to start the second half, scoring a hat-trick in a blink of an eye to close out her day. She would notch the first of three goals just 1:39 into the new period before netting a pair in a :52 second span that left the Buffs reeling. Her final goal would also be her final touch of the game as she watched her team put the game away over the final 35 minutes of the day.
Weaver's four goals tied the record for goals in a game for the Cougars becoming just the second player in program history to notch four tallies to put her name alongside of hall-of-famer Kim Lynass who accomplished the feat 27 years prior. Weaver became the 24th player in Pac-12 history to manage the deed with the conference record standing at five goals. Even more impressively for Weaver was the fact that she was able to dominate the game playing just 46 total minutes in the contest.
For the year, Weaver has scored 11 goals and assisted on four more. She ran her career tally to 39 goals, one shy of No. 2 all-time in program history.

The No. 24 ranked Cougars close out the regular season at Washington Friday, Nov. 8 in the Boeing Apple Cup Series. The game is scheduled for 7 p.m. on the Pac-12 Networks.
