SAN FRANCISCO – Washington State volleyball senior Alexis Dirige was selected as the Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Week for the week of Nov. 4-Nov. 10 as was announced by the Pac-12 Conference office Monday.
The libero from San Francisco, Calif. continued to anchor the WSU defense this past week, helping the Cougars pick up road wins over both Oregon State and Oregon. Washington State swept the Ducks of Oregon in the regular season for the first time since 2003, and this was the first time since 2002 the Cougars swept both the Oregon schools as well.
Dirige recorded 37 total digs in two matchups for Washington State, to see her career total increase to 2,047 overall. Alexis, who became WSU's all-time career digs leader a week ago, jumped up to 10th all-time in Pac-12 history in total career digs as well.
Alexis posted 19 digs against Oregon State, as well as adding 18 against the Ducks of Oregon. She also recorded one service ace to claim the 10th all-time spot in Washington State volleyball history in career services aces with 88 total.
The Cougars hit the court next, Friday, Nov. 15 as WSU will host the No. 15 Utah Utes inside Bohler Gym, with first serve scheduled for 6 p.m.
