Second Round in Corvallis Suspended Due to Darkness

CORVALLIS, Ore – The Washington State Men's Golf team was in the midst of a strong second round when play was suspended late in the day due to darkness at the 2019 Oregon State Invitational at the Trysting Tree Golf Club.
 
After a first round of 24-over par and sitting in 14th place, the Cougars improved dramatically in the second round, moving up four spots as they currently sit a 4-over on the round, 28-over for the tournament, with WSU players finishing up the final three holes. Host Oregon State currently leads the tournament at 18-under-par, 17 strokes ahead of second-place San Francisco.
 
Playing the par-71 layout, Cougar senior Nicklaus Chiam shot a 3-over 74 in the first round then was at even-par with one hole left in his second round. Chiam is tied for 21st overall after carding three birdies on his second round. Freshman Christian Yanagi had the best second round for WSU as he has two holes remaining while sitting at 1-under-par. Yanagi is currently tied for 38th after an opening-round 78 (+7).
 
Freshmen Yuya Eguchi and Clayton Thatcher are both tied for 50th at 10-over-par. After an opening-round 79, Thatcher has three holes remaining and is 2-over-par on his second round. Eguchi has one hole remaining and is four-over for the round after a first-round 77 (+6). Senior Daniel Kolar has one hole remaining and is 3-over in his second round, tied for 58th. Kolar shot an opening-round 79.
 
The second round will resume at 9 a.m. Tuesday morning. The final round of play will be a shotgun start immediately after the second round has concluded.
