PULLMAN, Wash. - The Washington State University women's swimming team earned their highest team grade-point-average in the past ten years after posting a 3.48 GPA in the 2018 Fall semester, with eight student-athletes earning a GPA of 3.50 or higher.

The Cougars have a history of academic achievement, earning their fifth straight Scholar All-America Team honor last season, after posting a 3.47 team grade-point-average. In the 17 semesters that Scholar All-America Team honors have been awarded, WSU has earned the accolade 15 times.

Individually, freshmen Payton Bokowy and Paige Gardner earned a 4.00; while senior Linnea Lindbergh, juniors Luci Brock and Ryan Falk, sophomores Chloe Larson and Taylor McCoy, and freshman Lauren Burckel earned over a 3.50 GPA.

"Cougar swimming just showed we are able compete at a high level in the classroom and continue to grow and improve in the pool," said head coach Matt Leach. "I'm very proud of our program. Everyone pitched in and we had the highest team GPA in over a decade! Great job Cougs! More to come from this smart group of motivated student-athletes."
