The Washington State swim team will travel to No. 14 Arizona to compete against Arizona Jan. 11 and No. 25 Arizona State Jan. 12. The meet against WSU will be streamed live on wsucougars.com.
ABOUT THE OPPONENTS
This will be the fifth time the Cougars and Arizona Wildcats will be meeting in the regular season, the last meeting was Oct. 14 of last year when Arizona defeated WSU 161-101 in Pullman, Wash. The Cougars and the Sun Devils from Arizona State will be meeting in the regular season for the eighth time. The Sun Devils hold a 5-2 advantage over the Cougars, defeating the team in Pullman last season. The Cougars' last visit to Tempe, Ariz. in 2016 resulted in a win over the Sun Devils, 182-98.

Keiana Fountaine proved to be a driving force for the Cougars, etching her name in the top-10 list in two separate events, including a schol record 49.67 in the 100 free. Five Cougars etched their names into the WSU All-Time Top-10 Performance list in six events.
COUGARS LEAD PAC-12 IN IMPROVEMENT RATE
Nationally, the Cougars are ranked 22nd based on improvement rates from this time last year, according to an article released by SwimSwam. Washington State improved 82%, ranking them first in the Pac-12 for improvement. WSU sits just ahead Utah who is ranked 27th in the nation with a 62% improvement rate.
KEIANA FOUNTAINE MAKES A STRONG IMPACT
Freshman
Keiana Fountaine is having an outstanding rookie campaign, tied for a team-leading nine wins, while also being a member of six winning relays. The Tracy, Calif. native leads the team in three individual events, including a school record 49.67 in the 100 free. Fountaine clocked an impressive 23.43 in the 50 free in the mid-season, less than a tenth of a second outside of the WSU All-Time Top-10. The freshman is also ranked in the Top-25 in the Pac-12 in two events. Fountaine's time of 49.67 in the 100 free ranks her 16th, while a 1:47.30 in the 200 free ranks her 18th in the conference and second in the WSU All-Time Top-10.Â
PULLMAN NATIVE MAKING A SPLASH
Sophomore
Taylor McCoy continues to see success in the pool for the Cougars, tying for a team-high nine individual wins. McCoy leads the team in four individual events: 100 and 200 back and 200 and 400 IM. The Pullman, Wash. native currently sits in the WSU All-Time Top-10 in three events: 100 and 200 back and the 400 IM. The sophomore backstroker holds the ninth and second spot on WSU Top-10 in the 100 and 200 back, respectively. McCoy is 14th in the Pac-12 in the 200 back, posting a season-best 1:56.86 at the mid-season invite. McCoy is also 25th in the Pac-12 in the 400 IM, with a season-best 4:20.81.
