WHO WHAT WHEN WHERE
PULLMAN, Wash.  -- The No. 22 ranked Cougars of WSU (11-3, 2-2 Pac-12) remained perfect at home during the 2018 season, picking up a win over No. 23 Colorado Sunday afternoon.
Set scores for the match were: 21-25, 32-30, 25-19, and 26-24, in favor of the Cougars.Â
The Cougars came out firing in the opening set of this contest, generating a 5-1 run against the Buffs, with kills from
McKenna Woodford and
Jocelyn Urias to fuel the offense. Colorado fought back into this set with a pair of 3-0 runs to eventually tie up the set at 13-13. Each squad traded points throughout the remainder of the set, however the Buffs were able to put together small 2-0 runs to see them out in front, and take set number one at 25-21 by the final point.Â
Washington State was in full control of set number two midway through, as a 5-0 run surged the Cougs out to an 18-11 lead over Colorado. The Buffs would not go quietly, creating multiple runs of 3-0 or more to ultimately tie up the set at 25-25. Trailing 30-29, the Cougars rattled off three straight points courtesy of two kills from
Taylor Mims to claim set two at 32-30.Â
Set number three continued to feature the same intense battle through the opening two sets, as the Buffs and the Cougars traded points early on in round three. WSU powered ahead of Colorado with a 7-2 run to hold down a 19-16 advantage. The Washington State offense sealed off the set three victory with three straight kills at 25-19, and saw offensive success from Mims, Urias, Woodford, and
Claire Martin.Â
The Buffs jumped out in front of Washington State in set four with an 8-1 run, for the 11-7 advantage. The two ranked programs traded multiple points once again, until the Cougs found an opening with a 3-0 run from two Woodford kills, and an additional kill from Urias. Three more lead changes followed late in this set, until the Cougars were able to put away the Buffs with back-to-back kills from
Ella Lajos, and Mims for the 26-24 set four victory.Â

Ashley Brown posted a career-high in assists with 57 total in the match, breaking her previous best of 55, which she recorded against Oregon earlier this season.Â

- The Cougars are now 5-0 overall at home, and 2-2 in Pac-12 play, while the Buffs drop to 9-6 and 1-3 in the Pac-12.Â
- Taylor Mims led offensively with a match-high 23 kills, and added 11 digs to her stat-line as well.Â
- Senior Ella Lajos totaled 13 kills also, along with two block assists, one solo bock, and an attack percentage of .417.
- McKenna Woodford turned in 18 kills of her own against Colorado, along with an attack percentage of .300 overall.Â
