Get to Know: Shir Levy
June 12, 2018 | Women's Basketball
Before the new players put on the Crimson and Gray we got a chance to get to know them a little better. Incoming freshman Shir Levy comes to the Cougs from Ness Ziona, Israel.
What made you want to be a Coug?
In my search for a good program I had in mind a few focal points that were important to me: a university with a high academic level combined with an excellent basketball program with a system that enables me to be the best as I can at the highest level. Since I am familiar with European basketball I looked for a place with international players. That's why WSU fits me the best.
Â
What do you love about basketball?
I consider myself a team player, and basketball gives me an opportunity to work with group members serving the same goal. Basketball had always been the most important part of my life and I cannot see myself without it. It built my personality and it gave me a lot of values such as being responsible, working hard, setting goals, and overcoming obstacles. I can't really put my finger on one thing that I love the most about basketball. I just know that it makes me who I am.Â
Â
What do you hope to get out of your time at Washington State?
First of all, I would like to improve and develop myself as a basketball player. I want to add many other aspects to my game and to be a part of a winning team. I want to be able to learn how to take my strengths and use them to the benefit of the team, and to be recognized as a player who gives it all out there on the court. Â
Â
Who inspired you athletically to pursue your collegiate dreams?
In the last three years I have played with great American basketball players who described college as the most beautiful time of their life. They all advised me to get this experience. Â
Â
If you weren't playing basketball what would you be doing and why?
I would probably look for a different kind of sport that combines movement, aggressiveness, and competition.Â
Â
What is something unique/special that only your closest friends know about you?
All my friends know that I'm a good listener. When one of my friends has a problem he will always come to talk to me. Maybe that's why I chose to major in psychology.
Â
If you could go anywhere or do anything what would it be and why?
I think exactly where I am today. College has always been my dream. The combination of basketball and studies is the best thing I can think of.
