THIS WEEK: The Cougars travel to Eugene, Ore. to open Pac-12 Conference play at Oregon, Sunday, March 11 at 11 a.m. at the Student Tennis Center. The following day they travel north for a nonconference match against Portland at noon. The Cougars enter the week with a 14-1 record, while Oregon enters at 9-3 and Portland 3-6. Oregon is ranked No. 21 nationally.

UP NEXT: WSU women's tennis resumes conference action when it travels south to face USC Friday, March 23 at 1:30 p.m. at Marks Stadium. The Cougars continue play Saturday March 24 at noon against UCLA at the Los Angeles Tennis Center. USC begins the week ranked No. 47 while UCLA is 13.

LAST WEEK: WSU collected three more victories last weekend after competing against Idaho State, Utah State and BYU. The Cougars captured two sweeps, securing a 7-0 victory against Idaho State, the Cougars first victory against the team, and winning 4-0 over BYU. Strong play against Utah State ended in a 6-1 victory for the WSU team. The team portrayed much consistency throughout the busy weekend and kept it up for the match against Boise State March 5, finishing with the 7-0 win. The Cougars are now 14-1 this season and improved to 1-2 all-time against Idaho State, 3-0 against Utah State, 11-6 all-time over BYU and 16-8 against Boise State.

BAYERLOVA RANKED 34 IN ITA NATIONAL SINGLES: Following the most recent ITA singles rankings, freshmen
Michaela Bayerlova came in at No. 49, down 15 spots from her previous ranking despite winning all three of her matches in the most recent ranking period. Bayerlova was No. 54 in the first of 2018 ITA National Singles rankings.

BAYERLOVA NAMED PAC-12 WOMEN'S TENNIS PLAYER OF THE WEEK: For the second time this season, WSU freshman
Michaela Bayerlova was named the Pac-12 Women's Tennis Player of the Week, the conference announced Feb. 27. Bayerlova earned her first Pac12's Women's Tennis Player of the Week Jan. 23. This season, Bayerlova is 3-0 against nationally ranked players and has lost just one set all season in her 20 singles matches. Bayerlova is the sixth player at WSU under Head Coach

BAYERLOVA CAPTURES TITLE AT ITF CHARLESTON: Freshman
Michaela Bayerlova gained her second career title at the ITF Charleston Tournament on Oct. 1. Seeded No. 5, she defeated No. 1 seed Montserrat Gonzalez in the championship match, 2-6, 6-3, 6-3. Gonzalez entered the tournament with a singles world ranking of 438. With Bayerlova's victory, her world ranking now stands at 629.

COUGARS IN INITIAL ITA RANKINGS: Freshman
Michaela Bayerlova was ranked No. 3 among freshmen/newcomers in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's preseason rankings and junior
Tiffany Mylonas was ranked No. 90 in the ITA preseason singles poll. Bayerlova is the first Cougar to enter the freshman/newcomer rankings since the ranking began in the fall of 2010. Mylonas is WSU's most recent player to be ranked for preseason singles since junior Elizaveta Luzina in 2014.

COACH HART:
Lisa Hart is entering her 15th season as the head coach at Washington State. Hart has accumulated 195 wins over her tenure, the most victories in school history. In 2012, the Cougars went 19-7 as Hart was awarded the Pac-12 Conference Women's Tennis Coach of the Year award.
