MATCHUP NOTES
The Cougs are home for the Oregon schools over the weekend beginning with #16/16 Oregon State Friday night. Additionally, the night is the Cougs Wave Pink game as WSU will wear pink uniforms in support of breast cancer awareness. The first matchup with the Beavers in Corvallis went to the Beavers, 71-53, as OSU pulled away from the Cougs late after WSU went nine minutes without a field goal. The Cougs were without leading scorer
Borislava Hristova who sat out with an ankle injury.
Chanelle Molina led the way with 17 points in the loss. The win for the Beavers was their eighth-straight over the Cougars. The last WSU win came in Corvallis on Feb. 15, 2013 (51-49) with the last home win coming in the same season the game prior on Jan. 27, 76-73, in overtime. All-time Oregon State holds a 54-30 record against the Cougs while pulling a slight 20-18 advantage in Pullman.
LAST TIME OUT
Finding open looks throughout the day, Washington State (10-14, 3-9 Pac-12) found itself unable to convert the shots into points as Arizona State (17-7, 8-4 Pac-12) pulled away in the second half for a 77-51 victory Sunday afternoon in Tempe. Down just one at 22-21 late in the second quarter, the Cougs went cold in the desert as WSU went over six minutes of game-play without a point allowing the Sun Devils to put together a 13-0 run that broke open a close contest. While the Cougs' shots continued to rim out the Sun Devils found their stroke while capitalizing on WSU miscues. Throughout the second half, every push by the Cougs to get back into the game was met with an immediate response by the Sun Devils as ASU never let up and never let WSU back into the contest. In the end, the Sun Devils finished the half shooting 65.5% from the floor in the half including hitting 10-of-12 in the fourth quarter.
