TEMPE, Ariz. – Finding open looks throughout the day, Washington State (10-14, 3-9 Pac-12) found itself unable to convert the shots into points as Arizona State (17-7, 8-4 Pac-12) pulled away in the second half for a 77-51 victory Sunday afternoon in Tempe. Down just one at 22-21 late in the second quarter, the Cougs went cold in the desert as WSU went over six minutes of game-play without a point allowing the Sun Devils to put together a 13-0 run that broke open a close contest. While the Cougs' shots continued to rim out the Sun Devils found their stroke while capitalizing on WSU miscues. Throughout the second half, every push by the Cougs to get back into the game was met with an immediate response by the Sun Devils as ASU never let up and never let WSU back into the contest. In the end, the Sun Devils finished the half shooting 65.5% from the floor in the half including hitting 10-of-12 in the fourth quarter.

Things You Need To Know

The Cougs fell for the seventh-straight time to the Sun Devils as ASU extended its overall record against WSU to 45-18.
On a day the shots refused to fall WSU put two players in double-figures led by Borislava Hristova's 15 points and Alexys Swedlund's 14 points. Hristova's double-digit effort was her 20th of the year, tying for eighth most by a Cougar sophomore all-time.'
With four three-pointers in the game, Swedlund pushed her career total to 142 made three-pointers and moved into fifth place all-time in WSU history.
ASU finished the game with five in double-figures led by Courtney Ekmark's 18 points. Kianna Ibis added 16 points while Jamie Ruden finished with 12. Reili Richardson and Robbi Ryan each tallied 10 in the game.
WSU returns home Friday, Feb. 9 against No. 16 Oregon State. The Cougs will wear pink in support of breast cancer awareness at the game which is scheduled for 6 p.m. on the Pac-12 Network.
