PULLMAN, Wash. – Washington State men's cross country's Kyler Little and soccer's Elyse Bennett have been named the Academic Services Student-Athletes of the Month for November 2018.
A senior on the men's cross country and track and field teams, Little (Coeur d'Alene, Idaho), is double majoring in computer science and mathematics with physics and Spanish minors, carrying a 4.0 grade point average. A member of the honors college, Little is a two-time Pac-12 Cross Country All-Academic First Team honoree, and will be looking to add a third to his great WSU career later this month. He's also a USTFCCA All-Academic honoree and was named to the 2017-18 Google Cloud Academic All-America second team. Little has been a key contributor to the WSU Men's Cross Country team this season. Little ran at the NCAA West Regionals, the Pac-12 Championships, and at the Pre-National Meet for the Cougars, this season, along with competing for the Cougars at the 2017 Pac-12 Championships, and the 2017 NCAA West Regional race.Â
A sophomore forward, Bennett (De Pere, Wis.) is a biology major, pre-med, and a member of the honors college with a 3.76 GPA. She graduated high school early and started at WSU in the spring of 2017. At just 18 years old as a sophomore, Bennett certified her major ahead of schedule and works as a certified nursing assistant (CNA). Bennett finished her sophomore year tied for third on the team with three goals including the game-winner at Nebraska early in the season. She added an assists to her 2018 totals before missing the final quarter of the season due to injury. In her first two seasons, Bennett has scored five goals and picked up two assists. She was named to the Pac-12 All-Freshman team in 2017.
Each month Washington State Academic Services will honor a male and female student-athlete that demonstrates commitment to academics while participating in their sport.
