Women's Basketball Television and Pac-12 Schedule Go Live
October 04, 2018 | Women's Basketball
The Cougars play 12 times on the Pac-12 Networks in 2018-19.
SAN FRANCISCO – After months of tedious work and planning, the Pac-12 office officially announced the women's basketball schedule and television appearances for the upcoming 2018-19 season Wednesday afternoon. The Cougars hit the court for the first time Monday, Oct. 29 in exhibition play while the regular season begins Tuesday, Nov. 6. WSU and the rest of the Pac-12 will begin play conference play Thursday, Dec. 29 with Washington State heading to Seattle for the first part of the Boeing Apple Cup Series with rival Washington.
In all, the Cougars will face 10 teams that played in the 2018 NCAA Tournament, four in nonconference play and six in Pac-12 competition. In addition, the Cougars will host three Elite Eight teams from a season ago with Oregon, Oregon State, and Stanford come to the Palouse.
WSU's contest at Washington will be the first of 12 for the Cougars on the Pac-12 Networks. Eight of the Cougars nine home games in conference play will be featured on the Pac-12's networks with the remaining being streamed live through Washington State's digital platform.
After ushering in the new year the Cougs will head to Corvallis to face the Oregon State Beavers on Friday, Jan. 4. Carrying on their road trip WSU will face reigning Pac-12 regular season and tournament champion, Oregon, Sunday, Jan. 6 in Eugene. Both games will be featured on the Pac-12 Networks.
The first Pac-12 Networks game for the Cougs at home at Beasley Coliseum will take place Friday, Jan. 11 when they host Utah at 7 p.m. Last season, the Cougs and the Utes faced off twice with Utah taking the victory in both matchups, including a hotly contested game at Beasley Coliseum with the Utes winning on a set of free throws with under one second left to play.
The Cougs see their 18 games alternating evenly between home and road games, but due to the unbalanced overall schedule, the Cougs will see the Los Angeles schools once in 2018, playing UCLA (Feb.1) and USC (Feb. 3), on the road. WSU also only faces the Arizona schools once, with both games at home at Beasley Coliseum starting with Arizona State Thursday, Feb.7 at 7 p.m., followed by Arizona Saturday, Feb. 9 at 12 p.m. on the Pac-12 Network.
Changing things up from last year, the Cougars will see their rivalry matchup with Washington played in Pullman Friday, Feb. 15 on the Pac-12 Networks. Last year the two rivals split the series, each holding serve on their home court.
As the regular season draws to a close, the Cougs' final road trip sends them to Colorado Friday, Feb. 22 and Utah Sunday, Feb. 24 before finishing the year at home. WSU will host Stanford Friday, Mar. 1 before closing out the regular season with senior day against Cal Sunday, Mar. 3.
After the grueling battle to reign supreme in the country's top conference, the women make the trip to Las Vegas for the 2019 Pac-12 Women's Basketball Tournament. The championship tournament is scheduled from March 7-10 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena with each game being broadcast live through the Pac-12 Networks or on the ESPN family of networks.
