Women's Golf Heads to Colorado for Ron Moore Women's Invitational

The Washington State women's golf team heads to Highlands Ranch, Colo. to compete at the Ron Moore Women's Invitational Friday through Sunday, Oct. 5-7. The tournament is hosted by the University of Denver.
 
THE FIELD
15 teams will join Washington State in the field, including Cal Poly, Central Arkansas, Colorado State, No. 17 Denver, Idaho, Kansas, Minnesota, Nebraska, Nevada, Northern Colorado, Ole Miss, Tulsa, UC Davis, UTSA, and Wyoming.
 
WORDS FROM HEAD COACH KELLI KAMIMURA
"We always love competing in Denver, it's a great golf course and the tournament is run really well. The field is really competitive, there are a lot of good teams there. We're excited to go and compete – we had a good showing there the last few years. The team's been training really hard, all of them have really showed progress this semester in terms of growth of their game mentally and physically. We're excited to go out and see what they can accomplish – taking it one shot at a time and seeing what's next and having fun."
 
REPRESENTING WASHINGTON STATE
Competing for the Cougars will be junior Marie Lund-Hansen, freshman Amy Chu, senior Madison Odiorne, redshirt-sophomore Emily Baumgart, and junior Elodie Bridenne. Competing individually will be freshman Cameron March.
 
LAST TIME ON THE GREEN
The team finished sixth at the CDA Resort Collegiate Invitational with an overall score of 876(+24). Junior Marie Lund-Hansen led the way for the Cougars, finishing the tournament tied for 11th. Lund-Hansen went three-over par for the tournament with a two-day score of 216(+3). Freshman Amy Chu completed the tournament tied for 13th after carding a 217(+4). Senior Madison Odiorne finished the tournament tied for 32nd with a 221(+8). Junior Elodie Bridenne and redshirt-sophomore Emily Baumgart both completed the tournament with scored of 225(+12).
 
COUGARS WELCOME TWO NEWCOMERS
Washington State welcomes three freshmen to the roster - Amy Chu and Cameron March. Australian native Chu has made a name for herself in the international golf world. Chu has competed all over the world, including America, Thailand, and Vietnam. She has made a name for herself in her home country as well, holding 11 championship finishes in Australian tournaments. Los Angeles, Calif. native March played four years of golf and three years of softball at Marlborough School. March earned all-League first team in golf her sophomore and junior season.
 
COACHING STAFF
The team is led by tenth-year head coach Kelli Kamimura, who led the women's golf team to eleven program records, a tournament title, and an individual NCAA berth in the 2017-18 season. WSU alumna Emma Betland is entering her fourth season as an assistant coach. Betland golfed at WSU from 2010-2013.
