Cougars Place Sixth at Ron Moore Women’s Invitational

Freshman Amy Chu placed ninth at the tournament.

HIGHLANDS RANCH, COLO. – Led by the play pf their freshman Amy Chu, the Washington State women's golf team placed sixth at the Ron Moore Women's Invitational after carding an 887(+23). Putting together their best round of play in Colorado, the team went two-under par, 286, Sunday afternoon.

Chu pushed her way into ninth place after the third round of play in the tournament. The Australian native carded a 70(-2) in the final round to garner an overall score of 218(+2). The ninth place finish was Chu's first-career top-10 finish in just her third collegiate tournament.

Not far behind was junior Marie Lund-Hansen. The Denmark native carded an overall score of 219(+3), after posting a one-under par, 71, in the final round of play. Lund-Hansen's score tied with Ellen Hutchinson-Kay from Ole Miss and Erin Sargent from Wyoming for 13th place.

Senior Madison Odiorne carded an even-par, 72, in the final round to bring her overall score to 225(+9). Redshirt-sophomore Emily Baumgart scored a third-round 73(+1). Baumgart completed the tournament with an overall 228(+12). Junior Elodie Bridenne finished the tournament with an overall score of 231(+15), after carding a 76(+4) in the final round of play.

Freshman Cameron March completed her first tournament as a Cougar. The Los Angeles, Calif. native carded an 80(+8) in the third round to bring her overall score to a 244(+25).

Colorado State took home the tournament title, having gone four-under par through the three-day event with an overall score of 860. Individually, Colorado State's Ellen Secor was the tournament medalist at three-under, 213, after posting a one-under, 70, on the final day of play.

The Cougars will be back on the green Oct. 19 as they head to Stanford, Calif. for the Stanford Intercollegiate.
