PULLMAN, Wash. - Washington State shut out San Jose State 31-0 at Martin Stadium Saturday night. Below are postgame notes and top social media posts.
 
GAME NOTES
•      San Jose State won the toss and deferred, WSU elected to receive
•      Kyle Sweet and Peyton Pelluer were game captains for the second straight week
•      Attendance: 26,141
 
TEAM NOTES
•      WSU recorded its first shutout of the season, recorded two last season (Colorado, Montana State), is the fourth shutout under Mike Leach
•      WSU held SJSU to 109 yards of total offense, the fourth-fewest yards allowed in program history, the fewest allowed since holding Oregon to 97 yards in 1994, a 21-7 Cougar win in Pullman
•      WSU held SJSU to nine rushing yards, the fewest rushing yards allowed since limiting Baylor to -10 yards in 2006
•      WSU recorded five sacks, the most since recording eight at Utah last season

•      WSU started the same 11 players on defense as week 1, only change on offense was Dezmon Patmon started at Z, his second career start

•      Tay Martin caught two touchdowns for the third time in his career (at Arizona, vs. Michigan State)

•      Taylor Comfort recorded his first career sack, occurring in the second quarter
•      Jahad Woods and Justus Rogers each recorded their first sack of the season
•      Misiona Aiolupotea-Pei recorded his first career sack in his WSU debut

•      James Williams caught four passes for 34 yard and a touchdown, upped his career reception total to 133, second-most catches by a running back in WSU history
