Cougar Tennis Welcomes Soomin Kim for 2018

Soomin Kim is the third student-athlete to sign with Cougar Tennis for the 2018 season.

PULLMAN, Wash. – Washington State University Head Tennis Coach Lisa Hart announced Tuesday that Soomin Kim has signed a national letter of intent to join the Cougar tennis program and will enroll at WSU in August 2018.

"We are thrilled that Soomin has decided to join our program," said Hart. "Her personality gels perfectly with our team and I expect she will immediately be a significant presence in our singles and doubles lineup."

Kim, a native of Seoul, South Korea, arrives at WSU following a stellar International Tennis Federation (ITF) junior career where she reached a career-best ranking of 380. She reached the singles final at the 2016 South Korean national championship U18 in Sunchang while capturing the doubles title that same year. In 2017, she reached the national championship U18 singles semifinal in Sunchang while again winning the doubles title. In 2013, she captured the national middle school championship in singles and was a finalist in doubles.
 
She also reached the 2015 ITF Sunchang international junior championship (G5) singles semifinal and the 2015 doubles final at the AGS 3 international junior championship in Indonesia. Additionally, she reached the doubles final on two G4 four events in 2015, both in Thailand.
