Anderson Eight-Under at Pac-12 Championships

ROLLING HILLS ESTATES, Calif. - The WSU men's golf team had a fierce showing in the third round of the men's Pac-12 Championships Wednesday, combining to go 13-under as a team.  With the performance, three Cougars sit in the top-25, with the team moving up to sixth place after scoring their lowest round thus far with a 342. The Cougars are just three strokes behind fifth place, No.17 Stanford  (1057, -8), and four back of No. 8 Cal for fourth.
 
Senior Zach Anderson continued his stellar play at the conference championships, pushing his way into fourth place following the third round of the championships. Anderson carried his first day momentum into day two, firing off a 65(-6), to bring his overall to a 205(-8). Anderson's 65 was one shot off his career best round of 64, a feat he accomplished in the third round of the 2016 Pac-12 Championships.
 
Anderson had nearly as many birdies as he did pars, with four on the front nine and three on the back. Moving up 15 positions from the first day, Anderson now sits one stroke back from current third placeholder Koichiro Ishika of Arizona State (204, -9).
 
Junior A.J. Armstrong moved up in the standings as well after tallying his second 68(-3) of the tournament. Armstrong carded the Cougars second eagle in the championships to help his third round total. With a 208(-5) for the three rounds, Armstrong now sits tied for 12th place overall.
 
Senior Derek Bayley moved up to tie for 24th, adding a 70(-1) to round out his two day score of 212(-1).
 
Junior Grant Cole rallied on day two, scoring his tournament low of a 68(-3). Cole jumped up 29 positions, making his way up to tied for 33rd with a 215(+2). 
 
Senior Brian Mogg used triple birdies to score his lowest round so far, coming in with an even 71. At four-over, 217, Mogg sits tied for 48th.
 
The final round of the Pac-12 Championships will tee off at 8 a.m., Wednesday April 25.
