THIS WEEK: The WSU men's golf team will travel to Rolling Hills Estates, Calif. to compete in the 2018 Pac-12 Conference Championships. The Cougars will face five top-25 teams, as well as the nations top three individuals. The 59th championships will take place on Monday, April 23 through Wednesday, April 25.
THE TOURNAMENT: The tournament will take place at the Rolling Hills Country Club. The course plays at a par-71, over a total of 7,155 yards. Teams will play a practice round Sunday, April 22 starting at 9:00 a.m. The first round will tee off Monday at 7:15 a.m. from the first and 10th holes, and will be followed by the second round at 12:30 p.m. The third round will begin Tuesday at 9:00 a.m., and the final round Wednesday will tee off at 8:00 a.m. The Cougars will be paired with Stanford and UCLA.
THE FIELD: All Pac-12 schools will join Washington State in the field, including No.8 California, No.17 Stanford, No.22 Arizona State, No.23 USC, No.28 UCLA, No.30 Oregon, No.32 Arizona, No.46 Colorado, No.77 Utah, No.71 Washington, No.77 Utah, and No.97 Oregon State.
REPRESENTING WASHINGTON STATE: Competing for the Cougars will be seniors Derek Bayley, Brian Mogg and Zach Anderson, juniors AJ Armstrong and Grant Cole, as well as freshman Ryan Maine.
LAST TIME AT THE PAC-12 CHAMPIONSHIPS: Senior Brian Mogg and sophomore Daniel Kolar each tied for 26th place overall with a three round score of 219(+9). The Cougars marked a team score of 1113(+63), finishing in tenth place. The team marked their lowest round on the final day, with a 366.
LAST TIME OUT: Junior Grant Cole made his first ever top-five finish in the ASU Individual tournament. Cole tied for fourth place with three others, replacing his 2017 7thplace finish in the Itani Quality Homes Collegiate as his best career finish. The Cougars closed out the ASU Thunderbird Invitational in 15th with a three round score of 885(+33).
COACHING STAFF: The team is led by first-year head coach Dustin White, who was an assistant coach at WSU before accepting the head coach position. White golfed for the Cougars from 1999-2003.
