First off can you reflect on the Silverado Showdown and what you think of your performance as a team?
Wanderscheid: The Silverado Showdown was super fun, and there was great weather. I personally think I could have played a little better. The pins were in kind of a difficult position. For the most part I have played pretty well but my game has not come all-together yet. As a team I think we played pretty solid. It was a tough field; all of the teams basically were ranked in the top 30, so it was cool to be in-it. On the final day our coach told us that we were +8 on our first three holes, and then we finished +8 so it was cool to see that we all battled back. I started terrible, and I was like "oh no it's going to be a long day", but then we all came together and showed a lot of grit, which was good to see.
What do you think is going to be your biggest challenge as a team at the Pac-12's?
Wanderscheid: I think our biggest challenge will be staying one shot at a time. It's easy to get ahead of yourself, especially knowing where we stand in the field and what we need to do. We should be good as long as we are just staying in the moment and having fun playing the game that we love.
How does it feel that this is not only going to be your last Pac-12 Championship, but also your last collegiate tournament?
Wanderscheid: It's bittersweet. I am excited for the next chapter that I'm going into, but it's also really sad because I have loved college golf. I love my teammates and it's going to be sad to go on, but also exciting.
Do you feel like your role in the team has changed just from last year when you were a junior to now, a senior?
Wanderscheid: Not really because we don't have any freshman or new players, so we have the same team from last year. Now that I am a senior I am a co-captain on the team, though.
What are you going to miss most about being at WSU?
Wanderscheid: I am definitely going to miss the Coug atmosphere and the Coug family. I think it is so cool to be a part of, and I love living in Pullman. I really enjoy he camaraderie of Cougs. I'm also really going to miss being on the golf team and being a student athlete, it's a great life and I really do love it. I'm going to miss it all, to be honest.
