NAPA, Calif. - The WSU women's golf team tallied their lowest round of the Silverado Showdown on the final day Tuesday, coming in with a 296(+8). The Cougars finished in 12th place with an 893(+29), just falling short of 10th place No.20 Colorado and Oregon by two strokes (891, +27).
The Cougars edged out 13th place No.50 Pepperdine by one stroke (894, +30), and led No.32 Wisconsin by five (898, +34). In the end, No. 8 Southern California took the team title at five-under, finishing the three-day tournament as the lone team in the red to beat a field that saw 12 of the top-50 teams in the nation compete.
No.62 Alivia Brown marked another top-20 overall finish, closing out with a three-round score of 220(+4). Brown scored a 78(+6) on the final day to tie for 19th with eight other golfers. Southern California's Jennifer Chang and UCLA's Patty Tavatanakit were co-medalists in California as the pair went eight-under in a field that featured 30 of the top-100 golfers in the country.
Sophomore Marie Lund-Hansen tied for 40th place after carding a 75(+3) in the third round. Lund-Hansen went seven-over par for the tournament, with an overall score of 223. Junior Madison Odiorne scored her lowest round of three on the last day, going two-under par with a 70. Odiorne finished just one stroke back from Lund-Hansen with a 224(+8).
The Cougars will now shift their focus to the Pac-12 Championships, which will take place from April 22-24 in Seattle at the Broadmoor Golf Club.
