SAN FRANCISCO -- Washington State's Brock Eager has been named the Pac-12 Men's Field Athlete of the Week after his stellar opening hammer throw at the USC Trojan Invitational meet March 16.
Eager, a redshirt junior from Renton, Wash., threw the hammer a distance of 218-feet 2 inches (66.50m) to capture first place among the 13 competitors. His mark leads the Pac-12, is the best in the NCAA West Region, and is fifth-best in the nation.
Last month he won the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Indoor Championships title in the 35-pound weight throw. Eager is the reigning Pac-12 hammer champion and earned All-America second team honors at the 2017 NCAA Championships. His lifetime-best hammer throw of 225-3 (68.66m) came last spring in Pullman and is fourth-best in WSU's all-time records.
This is the second time in his WSU career that Eager has been tabbed for conference's Athlete of the Week honors, earning the accolade in the Spring of 2017.
