PEORIA, Arizona - The WSU men's golf team sits in sixth place after the first round of the Desert Mountain Intercollegiate. The Cougars marked a 290(+2) in the opening round.
The second round of the tournament commenced immediately following the first on Saturday, but was suspended early due to darkness. The second round will continue Sunday morning at 8:00 a.m.
Junior A.J. Armstrong is unofficially tied for 15th following the second round. Armstrong scored a 76(+4) in the first round, and tallied six birdies in the second to record a 69(-3) as one of the golfers to finish the round.
Seniors Derek Bayley and Zach Anderson are unofficially tied for 23rd following the second, each marking a two round score of 148(+4). Bayley sat tied for fourth after scoring a 68(-4) in the first round, and Anderson jumped up eight positions after marking back to back 74(+2)'s.
Senior Brian Mogg went one over par in the first round with a 73, and followed up with a 76(+4) to sit tied for 28th. Mogg tallied nine pars and three birdies in the second round of play.
