PULLMAN, Wash. – Dominating play for 90 minutes, the Washington State soccer team came up with a 1-0 shutout of No. 14 Nebraska to kick off their portion of the 2017 Cougar Classic at Lower Soccer Field. The Cougs (2-1-1) dominated the stat sheet, outshooting the Huskers (4-1-0), 15-7, on the night. After near misses throughout, Morgan Weaver's 69th minute strike off a deflected pass from Kelsee Crenshaw finally broke the scoreless draw for the Cougs.
WSU's defense was stout against the high-powered Husker attack as they were truly threatened just twice on the night. In an entire team defensive effort, the Cougs saw just one shot deflect off the crossbar early in the contest while keeper Ella Dederick was forced to make four saves.

Coach's Quote Of The Match
"We knew it was going to be a tight game, back and forth, Nebraska is a fantastic team which has scored 12 goals and given up one. They're a tough team to break down. They do a great job so hats off to them. I'm more pleased about that we had four or five freshmen tonight that not only started but they were playing ample minutes. We outshot them. We outscored them. We out fouled them and this is a Nebraska team that is for real."
