Women's Golf Set For Peg Barnard Invitational

The Cougars will return to the green, Feb. 11-12, to compete at Stanford.

THIS WEEK: The Washington State women's golf team tees off its spring season at the Peg Barnard Invitational, at Stanford, Calif., Saturday through Sunday, Feb. 11-12.

THE TOURNAMENT: The Stanford Golf Course is a 6,084-yard track at a par-71…the tournament is entering its 22nd year…the first round will take place Saturday, Feb. 11, with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m…the final round will begin Sunday, Feb. 12, at 8:30 a.m.

THE FIELD: Joining WSU and host-school Stanford in the 12-team field will be Colorado, Long Beach State, Nevada, New Mexico State, Oregon, Oregon State, San Jose State, Stanford B Team, UC Davis, and USF…Stanford is currently ranked No. 1 in the nation.

REPRESENTING WASHINGTON STATE: Competing for the Cougars will be freshmen Marie Lund-Hansen and Elodie Bridenne, junior Alivia Brown, sophomore Madison Odiorne, and senior Cherokee Kim.

LAST TIME ON THE GREEN: WSU closed out its fall season finishing ninth (+37, 914) at the Pac-12 Preview, Oct. 24-25…Alivia Brown tied for 15th place, her fourth top-25 performance of the season…Marie Lund-Hansen tied for 28th (+10, 229)…Madison Odiorne tied for 32nd after shooting 11-over (230) through three rounds…Cherokee Kim tied for 36th (+12, 231).

FALL RECAP: The team's fall season was highlighted by a second-place finish at the WSU Cougar Cup, Sept. 19-20, where four Cougars finished in the top-25…the women placed fourth at the Golfweek Conference Challenge, Sept. 26-28, where Alivia Brown had a career-best second-place finish…led by top-10 finishes from Madison Odiorne and Alivia Brown, the Cougars finished fourth at the Pat Lesser Harbottle Invitational, Oct. 10-11. 

COACHING STAFF: The team is led by eighth-year head coach Kelli Kamimura, who led the women's golf team to a conference-championship team record for the lowest three-round and single-round totals at the 2016 Pac-12 Championships…WSU alumna Emma Betland is entering her third season as assistant coach…Betland golfed at WSU from 2010-2013.
