PULLMAN, Wash. – A dominant final five minutes turned a close game into a comfortable win at home for Washington State (4-4) which opened its three-game home stand with a 72-55 win over Idaho State (5-2) Friday night. After seeing their double-digit lead shrink to just one in the opening minute of the fourth, the Cougs turned it on from the outside when Borislava Hristova hit the first of her two triples in the quarter to kick off a huge fourth quarter for the Cougs. Hristova would score 10 of her game-high 16 in the final 10 minutes of the contest to lead the Cougs on a 14-2 closing kick that would bury the Bengals. In the quarter, the Cougs would hit three from deep with Hristova's pair turning the tides back in the Cougs favor while Louise Brown's fourth three of the game put WSU up by double-digits for the second time in the half. In all, the Cougs knocked down 9-of-17 from deep led by Brown's 4-for-4 effort while allowing the nation's No. 3 ranked three-point shooting team to hit just 6-of-16 from behind the arc. Brown finished the game with 14 points and a game-high 11 rebounds for her first double-double of the season.

Stat of the Game
The Cougs blocked a season-best nine shots. Their nine blocks ranked tied for the fifth-most in a single game in program history and the most since blocking a program-record 14 against Colorado last season.

Things You Need To Know

The Cougs have won three-straight contests to pull to .500 on the year. The win extended WSU's streak against Idaho State to four-straight games and improved the Cougs record to 5-2 against the Bengals.
Louise Brown's double-double was the third of her career and the first double-double of the season for the Cougs. Brown's last double-double came against Oklahoma State on Nov. 20, 2016 when she posted 11 points and a career-best 16 rebounds. Her four three's tied a career high from behind the arc.
Borislava Hristova led the Cougs in scoring for the sixth time in eight contests scoring 16 points, 10 of which came in the fourth quarter. She added a career-best five assists
WSU posted a season-high 20 assists on 25 field goals and shot a season-best 45.5% (25-of-55) from the floor.
Idaho State was held to a season-low 55 points while shooting just 38.3% from the floor and 37.5% from deep, 10% points lower than its season average. The Bengals would also finish 3-for-11 from the line. Both Sai Tapasa and Saylair Grandon finished the game with 12 points while Brooke Blair finished with 11.
The Cougars' defense clamped down late, allowing just 12 points in the fourth quarter and two points over the game's final 5:28.
Nike McClure posted a season-best five blocks to lead the Cougs' defensive efforts while Johanna Muzet posted a career-best four steals. McClure's five blocks brought her career total to 109 tying her for third all-time in WSU history with Janet Kusler (1975-79).
WSU continues the three-game home stand Monday, Dec. 4 against Saint Louis. The game is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Beasley Coliseum.
