WSU CROSS COUNTRY CONCLUDES SUCCESSFUL 2017 SEASON
The Washington State University cross country teams ended the season strong with the No. 27 men's team finishing 24th and Vallery Korir, a junior from Iten, Kenya, finishing 33rd and receiving All-America honors at the NCAA Championships...under the direction of fourth-year coach Wayne Phipps, the Cougars men out-ran their USTFCCCA ranking for the second consecutive NCAA finish...highlights of the 2017 season include the WSU men's team finishing seventh, Korir finishing 19th at the NCAA West Region Championships to earn at-large bids...at the Nuttycombe Invitational the men's team finished 13th and the women's team finished fourth led by Korir winning the women's open.

MEN 24TH, KORIR ALL-AMERICA AT NCAA XC CHAMPIONSHIPS
The No. 27 WSU men's cross country team finished 24th and Vallery Korir finished 33rd at the NCAA Cross Country Championships Sat., Nov. 18 at E.P. "Tom" Sawyer Park in Louisville...Korir ran the 6000 meters course in a time of 20:07.9 seconds and became only the fourth woman in WSU women's cross country history to earn All-America honors (top 40 individuals)...the No. 27 WSU men's team took 24th place with 539 points...Chandler Teigen, a junior from Anatone, Wash., led the Cougars men with a 63rd-place finish on the 10,000 meters course in a time of 30:20.5...other WSU runners were Michael Williams 70th overall/59th team scoring (30:26.31), Nathan Wadhwani 94th/78th (30:37.41), Matthew Watkins 201st/172nd (31:38.25), Justin Janke 206th/177th (31:43.00), and non-scorers Paul Ryan 232 (32:14.10) and Jake Finney 247 (33:26.18)...Northern Arizona claimed the men's team title in the 10,000 meters race for the second consecutive year...New Mexico women's team claimed the team title in the 6000 meters race.

COUGARS TO HOST 2019 NCAA WEST REGION XC CHAMPIONSHIPS
Washington State will host the 2019 NCAA Cross Country West Regional Friday, Nov. 15, at the Colfax Golf Club at Colfax, Wash...this will mark the first time WSU will host an NCAA Cross Country Regional Championship...WSU hosted the 2015 Pac-12 Cross Country Championships at the Colfax Golf Club and practice on the course weekly.
