Men's Golf Travels to Colorado

THIS WEEK: The WSU men's golf team is heading back to the fairway after a two week break from competition to participate in the Paintbrush Invitational in Erie, Colorado. The tournament will take place on Monday, October 9th and will continue on Tuesday the 10th.

THE COURSE: The invitational will take place at the Colorado Golf Club in Erie, Colorado. The course is a par 72 with teams facing 7,465 yards on Monday, and 7,513 on Tuesday. If weather permits it, there will be a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. Monday morning.

THE FIELD: The 11 team field will consist of Colorado, Denver, Colorado State, Air Force, Wyoming, Pacific, New Mexico, Arizona State, Texas Tech, Oklahoma State, and Washington State.

REPRESENTING WASHINGTON STATE: Competing for the Cougars will be seniors Derek Bayley and Brian Mogg, junior AJ Armstrong, and sophomores Daniel Kolar and Nicklaus Chiam.

LAST TIME ON THE GREEN: The Cougars finished in 13th place in the William H. Tucker Intercollegiate in Albuquerque, New Mexico, September 22-23. Junior Grant Cole had the best score for WSU, tying for 40th overall with a 225(+9). Senior Brian Mogg and junior AJ Armstrong shared a final score of 226(+10), and tied for 45th place.

COACHING STAFF: The men's golf team is led by second-year head coach Dustin White, a WSU alum who golfed for the Cougars from 1999-2003…assisting White is Chris Gilbert, a second-year assistant coach with four years of collegiate and three years professional golfing experience.
