THIS WEEK
Washington State travels to Los Angeles for a two-meet stretch. The Cougars will take on USC at Uytengsu Aquatics Center Thursday, Oct. 26 at 6:15 p.m. They will then travel to UCLA to compete Saturday, Oct. 28 at 11 a.m. in Spieker Aquatics Center.
ABOUT THE OPPONENTS
The Trojans from USC currently hold a 6-0 record over the Cougars, with the last meeting coming Sept. 30, 2016. In 2016, the Cougars lost that match up, 161-96. This will be the Cougars 12th match up with the Bruins from UCLA. Last season, the Cougars defeated the Bruins for the first time in program history. The Cougars claimed a 143- 119 victory and won 10 of the 14 events against the Bruins.
LAST TIME IN THE POOL
Washington State is coming off of an eventful weekend. Saturday, Oct. 21, the Cougars welcomed back more than 40 swimmers for an alumni exhibition meet against the current Cougars. Saturday and Sunday,
Jasmine Margetts competed in the USA College Challenge. Margetts had an outstanding performance, setting season best times in the 100 and 200 back, and the 1000 free. Margetts also posted the third fastest time in program history in the 1000 free.
NEWCOMERS MAKING A SPLASH
The newcomers continue to have outstanding performances in the pool; combining for a total of seven individual wins in the first three meets of the season.
Emily Cook leads the way for the newcomers with four individual wins, including the 100 back against No. 24 Arizona with a time that falls into the NCAA "B" standard time. Cook is also a member of four winning relays.
Sam Howell,
Clothilde Peseux, and
Taylor McCoy have one win each.
Mackenzie Duarte and Alba Fores each placed in the Top- Three in their first home meet of the season taking second in the 200 breast and third in the 100 free, respectively.
COMING UP
The Cougars will have some time off from competition before diving back into the pool Nov. 17-19 to compete in the Ohio State Invite.
