ALBUQUERQUE, New Mexico: The WSU men's golf team closed out the first two rounds of the William H. Tucker Intercollegiate in 13th place, Friday, September 22nd. The team tallied a 305(+17) in the first round, but shaved off several strokes in the second round for a 298(+10). A combined score of 603(+27) placed the team five strokes ahead of 14th place finishers New Mexico State and Louisiana Tech (608, +32).
Junior Grant Cole is tied for 33rd place after marking five birdies over the two rounds, bringing his overall score to 149(+6).
Senior Brian Mogg went -8 for the day, shooting an 80(+8) in the first round and coming back in the second with a 71(-1). Mogg is currently tied with junior AJ Armstrong and seven others with a total score of 151(+7).
Arizona's George Cunningham leads the players in first with a 139(-5). Leading as a team is UNLV who scored a 282(-6) in the first round and a 293(+5) in the second. They lead second place Washington by six strokes (581, +5).
The third round will commence Saturday morning with a 7:45 shotgun start on the UNM Championship Golf Course.
