PULLMAN, Wash. – Washington State University men's basketball junior, Robert Franks, spent part of this summer as a member of the USA Eagles basketball team on its 2017 Asia Tour, which featured several games in China and Mongolia.
A native of Vancouver, Wash., Franks enjoyed his experience on and off the court during his first trip to China.
"It was great seeing a different culture," Franks said. "Although the culture was a lot different, the love for basketball over there is the same as it is here."
On top of playing basketball, Franks and the USA Eagles had the opportunity to experience China and the Chinese culture. They toured China and Mongolian, including trips to the Great Wall of China, and Tiananmen Square.
The USA Eagles have been playing in Asia since 2008 and traditionally play a combination schedule of National Team and Chinese Basketball Association. Franks is the fourth to compete with the USA Eagles in China over the last six years as Valentine Izundu toured China in 2015, Josh Hawkinson competed in 2014 and DaVonté Lacy played with the USA Eagles on a tour of China in the summer of 2012.
