Bayerlova Advances at ITF Las Vegas Event

Cougar freshman  Michaela Bayerlova advanced to the second round of qualifying at the ITF Las Vegas tournament Sunday.

LAS VEGAS – Washington State freshman tennis player Michaela Bayerlova captured a straight-set victory over Rasheeda McAdoo in the first round of qualifying at the International Tennis Federation Las Vegas tournament at the Red Rock Country Club Sunday.
 
Bayerlova, playing her first tournament in a Cougar uniform and currently ranked No. 744 in the world, found the early lead when she broke McAdoo in the 12th game to capture the first set 7-5. In the second set Bayerlova rode another early break as she cruised to the 7-5, 6-1 win. McAdoo recently completed her final year of eligibility at Georgia Tech, where she ended the 2017 season ranked No. 53 nationally.
 
In the match, Bayerlova won all 10 of her service games, facing just two break points. She won 92 percent of the points in which she made a first serve and ended up breaking McAdoo three times in the match.
 
Bayerlova will play again Monday when she faces Rhiann Newborn in the second round.
