Westbrook Spring Invitational up Next for Cougars

The women's golf team travels to Arizona for its next tournament.

THIS WEEK: The Washington State women's golf team heads to Peoria, Ariz., to compete at the Westbrook Spring Invitational, Sunday through Monday, Feb. 26-27.

THE TOURNAMENT: The Westbrook Spring Invitational is hosted by the University of Wisconsin…teams will play on the par-72, 6,269-yard Westbrook Village Golf Course…the first round begins Sunday with a shotgun start at 7:30 a.m. PT/8:30 a.m. MT, followed by the second round at 12 p.m. PT/1 p.m. MT…the final round will be played Monday at 7:30 a.m. PT.

THE FIELD: Joining WSU and host-school Wisconsin in the 13-team field will be Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kansas State, Nebraska, New Mexico State, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Oregon State, and UC Davis.

REPRESENTING WASHINGTON STATE: Competing for the Cougar women will be junior Alivia Brown, freshman Marie Lund-Hansen, senior Cherokee Kim, sophomore Madison Odiorne, and freshman Elodie Bridenne…junior Bree Wanderscheid will be competing as an individual.

LAST TIME AT THE WESTBROOK INVITATIONAL: Highlighted by Brown's top-25 finish, the Cougars finished in 15th place (+23, 887) at the 2016 Westbrook Spring Invitational…Brown shot 1-over to tie for 23rd (217) and Odiorne tied for 56th (+8, 224)…Kim finished with a final score of 225 (+9) and tied for 63rd place, while Wanderscheid tied for 70th (+10, 226).

LAST TIME ON THE GREEN: WSU finished 10th (+38, 606) at the Peg Barnard Invitational, Feb. 11-12, to kick off the spring season…Kim recorded her third top-25 finish of the season after tying for 18th place (+7, 149)…Lund-Hansen shot 9-over through two rounds to tie for 29th (151)…Brown had a final score of 153 (+11) and tied for 38th place…Odiorne and Bridenne tied for 46th and 48th, respectively.

COACHING STAFF: The team is led by eighth-year head coach Kelli Kamimura, who led the women's golf team to a conference-championship team record for the lowest three-round and single-round totals at the 2016 Pac-12 Championships…WSU alumna Emma Betland is entering her third season as assistant coach…Betland golfed at WSU from 2010-2013.
