NORFOLK, Va. – The Washington State swimming team has been recognized as a College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Scholar All-America Team for exemplary academic performance during the fall 2016 semester.
The Cougars earned a 3.43 team GPA last semester to earn the reward, the second-highest in the Pac-12. During the fall semester, 15 student-athletes earned over a 3.00 GPA. Additionally, 15 swimmers were named to the WSU Athletics All-Academic Team for achieving over a 3.00 GPA for the spring and fall 2016 semesters.
A record 638 teams, representing 394 institutions, earned the honor. In total, 73 percent of all CSCAA member programs posted GPA's above 3.00, with 91 percent of Division I women's teams meeting the mark. To qualify for the award, a team must have achieved a cumulative team grade point average of 3.00 or higher during the fall 2016 semester.

The Cougars return to the pool Saturday, Feb. 11, against Utah at Gibb Pool in their final home meet of the season. The meet begins at 11 a.m.
