PULLMAN, Wash. – The Washington State women's golf team tied for second at the WSU Cougar Cup with a total score of 868 ( 4) at Palouse Ridge Golf Club, Tuesday, in a field of 10 teams.

The Cougars shot 2-under par in the third round and finished four strokes behind first-place finisher Idaho (E, 864). As a team, Idaho broke the Palouse Ridge collegiate women's records for lowest single-round score (-7, 281) and lowest three-round score (864, E). 

WSU tied with Cal State Fullerton ( 4, 868) to round out the top three. Cal State Fullerton's Martina Edberg broke the Palouse Ridge collegiate women's records for lowest third-round score (-6, 66), and lowest three-round score (-10, 206).

Juniors Alivia Brown and Bree Wanderscheid finished the tournament tied for fourth, shooting 1-under par with three-round scores of 215. The duo carded seven birdies in the third round.

"Top to bottom, I think we really played great." WSU Head Coach Kelli Kamimura said. "It's always tough to finish second, but at the same time, we got better and played great. We had a solid week."

Senior Cherokee Kim finished even-par in sixth place, with an overall score of 216. Kim shot 4-under par with four birdies on the back nine in the third round.

Sophomore Madison Odiorne tied for 15th place, with a three-round score of 222 ( 6). Odiorne carded three birdies in the third round on the back nine. 

Freshman Elodie Bridenne and junior Jamie Midkiff, who competed as an individual, tied for 40th place with an overall score of 233 ( 17). 

"They're showing so much growth, and we're really excited about that," Kamimura said. "I look forward to having that continue as the season progresses."

Next up, the Cougars will compete at the Golfweek Conference Challenge at Vail, Colo., Sept. 26-28, at Red Sky Golf Club.
