SERIES HISTORY
The Cougs head east for a pair of games to finish off the non-conference slate of games beginning with one at St. Louis on Sunday afternoon. Against the Billikens, the Cougars face a fresh foe as the two teams have never met on the court before. St. Louis, a member of the A10 conference, is 7-3 on the year and 3-1 at home. They finished tied for the conference title last season at 26-8 overall and made it to the 3rd round of the WNIT. The Billikens were picked to repeat as conference champions thanks to three different players scoring in double-figures on the year led by Jackie Kemph at 14.6 ppg.
LAST TIME OUT
Playing their first true road game of the season, the Washington State women's basketball team dropped a tough one at Gonzaga falling 79-61 at the Kennel Thursday night. Playing without one of their starters and their second-leading scorer for the second-straight game, the Cougars only saw the night get worse as they lost their top threat just eight minutes into the game in what would turn out to be a rough trip to Spokane for Washington State. Out of the gate, the Cougs found themselves in trouble as the Zags hit their first eight shots en route to a 34-point opening quarter. The 34 points were the most given up by the Cougars in a single quarter on the year as they found themselves down 14, 34-20, after just 10 minutes to play. Overall, the Cougs put two in double-figures in
Chanelle Molina (11 points) and
Maria Kostourkova (10 points). The Zags finished the night shooting 54.5% (30-of-55) from the floor, a season-best against the Cougs on the year. They did most of their damage from deep hitting 10-of-16.
