COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Washington State swim team completed the second day of the Ohio State Invitational on Saturday at the McCorkle Aquatics Pavilion. The Cougars are currently in ninth place with 121 points.
 
In addition to Washington State and host Ohio State, the invite is comprised of teams from Stanford, Utah, Iowa, Kentucky, Kenyon, Pittsburgh, Penn State and Yale.
 
"The Cougs had a very good day today," WSU Head Coach Tom Jager said. "We swam a lot of events today and we swam every one of them hard. We finished out the session with two tough 800 free relays. We have some challenges ahead of us, but this meet is bringing those challenges into focus and we are ready to race tomorrow. Go Cougs!"
 
The Cougars started the Saturday finals with a ninth-place finish in the 200 medley relay, picking up 18 points. The relay team of Hannah Bruggman, Angela Mavrantza, Anna Brolin, and Anna Rosen touched the wall in 1:41.26, a season best time. The Cougars gathered six more points in the 200 medley relay when the team of Penny Nichols, Linnea Lindberg, Haley Rose Love and Hailey Johnson finished 14^th with a 1:42.62.
 
In the 400 IM, sophomore Jasmine Margetts tallied two more points for WSU after finishing 15^th, clocking a 4:17.46, a season best. Senior Addisynn Bursch notched an 18^th place finish at 4:21.19. Freshman Luci Brock finished 39^th with a time of 4:28.71, a personal best time.
 
In the 100 butterfly, Brolin finished 19^th after she clocked a time of 55.47. Senior Kendra Griffin placed 29^th with a 56.17. Love followed with a 30^th place finish touching the wall in 56.63. Locke placed 31^st with a 55.45, a season best. Sophomore Ciera Kelly finished in 32^nd place, with a time of 55.72, a career best.
 
In the 200 free, freshman Ryan Falk clocked a time of 1:50.31, good for a 32^nd place finish and a career best time. Junior Rachel Thompson followed Falk, notching a 33^rd place finish with a time of 1:50.69, a season best.
 
In the 100 breast, Mavrantza earned six points for the Cougars when she touched the wall eleventh at 1:02.17, the third-fastest time in school history. Two Cougars posted career best times in the 100 breast. Brolin finished at 1:05.25 (26^th) and Rosen clocked a time of 1:05.40 (33^rd), while two others set season best times when Lindberg touched in 1:05.41 (34^th) and Shewchuk finished in 1:06.79 (39^th).
 
In the 100 back, Bruggman finished 23^rd with a time of 56.11, a season best for her. Love garnered a 30^th place finish touching in 58.03, while Nichols clocked a 57.64 coming in 37^th. Junior Talisa Wibmer finished in 40^th place with a time of 58.85, a season best time.
 
The Cougars finished the day with a two-way tie for 13^th place in the 800 freestyle relay with the Ohio State 'C' team. The team of Griffin, Locke, Jessica Marston and Emma Elhoff clocked a time of 7:28.97.
 
Washington State returns to the pool tomorrow Sunday, Nov. 20, to conclude the three-day Ohio State Invitational at the McCorkle Aquatics Pavilion.
