Box Score PULLMAN, Wash. – Led by three scorers in double figures, the Washington State women's basketball team defeated the No. 25 University of Southern California, 73-61, Friday at Beasley Coliseum. The Cougars (12-5, 3-3 Pac-12) outscored the Trojans (14-3, 2-3 Pac-12) 23-11 in the third quarter to solidify their first win over a nationally-ranked opponent this season.
WSU freshman Borislava Hristova scored 21 points to lead the Cougars. Sophomore Louise Brown recorded her first-career double-double with 10 points and a career-high 13 rebounds. Freshman Maria Kostourkova added 10 points and eight rebounds, while sophomore Caila Hailey scored nine points and pulled in a career-high seven rebounds, including a pair of offensive rebounds in the final two minutes to secure the Cougars' fourth-straight victory over USC.

In the final quarter the Cougars maintained their lead, outscoring USC, 19-12. After trailing by as many as 13 points in the second quarter, WSU's come-from-behind victory is its largest since defeating Oregon State in overtime, Jan. 27, 2013, when it trailed by 14 points.
“We're excited about the win,” WSU Head Coach June Daugherty said. “We took care of the basketball. We outrebounded them. We shot very well from the free throw line, which was important down the stretch, and we overcame a 13-point deficit. It's a really exciting win for us and something that we want to continue to build upon.”
Washington State capitalized on 20 USC turnovers, scoring 25 points. The Cougars also pulled in 17 offensive rebounds, resulting in 23 second-chance points. For the 13th time this season, WSU's bench players outscored an opponent's with a 20-12 advantage for the Cougar reserves.
With 21 points in the game, Hristova broke a 26-year-old freshman record for most 20-point performances. Hristova broke the 20-point plateau for the seventh time this season, the most by any freshman in school history. The previous record was held by Kristal Stahl, set during the 1988-89 season.
Washington State concludes its four-game home stand Sunday, welcoming No. 17/23 UCLA to Beasley Coliseum. The Cougars and Bruins will tip off at noon with coverage on the Pac-12 Networks.
