Holt Selected for Pac-12 All-Star China Tour

SAN FRANCISCO -- Washington State junior volleyball player Kyra Holt has been selected to play with the Pac-12 Conference All-Star volleyball team touring China this summer, the conference announced Tuesday.

Holt, a 6-1 outside hitter from Hercules, Calif., was a 2015 All-Pac-12 First Team selection, one of four on the 2016 All-Star team. Last season Holt led WSU with 3.91 kills per set, sixth-best in Pac-12 and 62nd-best in NCAA, 4.51 points per set which was seventh-best in Pac-12 and 52nd in NCAA, and 0.32 aces per set (35 aces) which was fourth-best in Pac-12. In WSU's all-time career records, Holt's 1,293 kills is sixth-best, her 1486.5 points is second-best, and her 91 aces is eighth-best.

The summer all-star team will practice in Los Angeles June 18 and depart the next day for Shanghai for practice and sightseeing June 21-22. From June 23-25, the Pac-12 All-Stars will play matches in Nanjing and then play in Beijing from June 26-July 1, taking on both Chinese club and national teams. In addition to the matches, the student-athletes will enjoy sightseeing visits in both cities and surrounding areas.

The All-Star team was selected by member schools' coaching staffs and Pac-12 liaison, and includes one freshman, four sophomores and seven juniors. In total, 11 of the 12 universities in the conference are represented. The team includes one libero, two setters, three middle blockers, and six outside hitters. The coaching staff is composed of Michael Sealy, head coach at UCLA, Arizona assistant coach Charita Stubbs, and Utah assistant coach Malia Shoji.
