No. 14 Rowing Falls at No. 8 Washington

The No. 14 Washington State women's rowing team competed against the No. 8 Washington at the Montlake Cut.

SEATTLE – The No. 14 Washington State women's rowing team battled tightly with the No. 8 Washington Huskies in dual action, but fell short in all four women's races, Saturday morning at the Montlake Cut.

In one of the closest races of the day, the Cougar varsity eight (coxswain- Rebecca Burns, stroke- Morgan Cathrea, Savannah Davison, Mihaela-Teodora Berindei, Jordan Watson, Kim Coon, Emily Thomson, Isabella Watt, bow- Emily Morrow) took second behind Washington and finished with a time of 6:41.429. The Huskies finished in 6:33.713, eight seconds ahead of WSU.

WSU's second varsity eight (coxswain- Jenna Mangiagli, stroke- Jess Brougham, Taija Thompson, Jessica Newson, Sarah Steger, Jessi Howe, Lucie Weissova, Chloe Rogers, bow- Lori VerMurlen) finished 16-seconds after Washington with a time of 6:42.746. The Husky second varsity eight recorded a time of 6:26.530.
 
Washington took first in the varsity four race with WSU's boats following 24-seconds behind. The Cougar varsity four (coxswain- Ellie Burg, Codi Swenson, Brittany Brooks, Paige Danielson, bow- Kotryna Lasaite) finished second in 7:34:078. The Husky varsity four crossed the finish line at 7:10.498.

In the third varsity eight event, WSU's novice eight (coxswain- Taylor Brown, stroke- Sara Brevick, Katrina Tarrant, Jenna Kennedy, Katie Persley, Jill Hannink, Tammy Hilgendorf, Miranda Armstrong, bow- Colleen Gibbons) recorded a time of 6:50.399. The Husky novice eight crossed the finish line at 6:28.604.

The Washington State women's rowing team will continue its spring season and travel to South Carolina to compete in the Clemson Invite Saturday, April 16 and Sunday, April 17.
