Cougars Wrap up First Round

TEMPE, Ariz. – The Washington State women's golf team is tied for 11th with Northwestern after one round of play at the PING/ASU Invitational, Friday, at the ASU Karsten Golf Course.

WSU (+13, 301) leads Denver and Hawaii, and is 20 strokes back of leader, No. 3 UCLA (-7, 281). No. 17 UNLV and No. 11 Arizona State are tied for second at 1-under par (287) in a field which features six ranked opponents.

Senior Monica Huang leads the Cougars and is tied for 12th after shooting even par (72) on the day. Huang trails tournament-leader Bronte Law, who set a course record with a one-round score of 64, by eight strokes.

After shooting 4-over par (76) in the first round, senior Nani Yanagi and junior Cherokee Kim are tied for 40th. Sophomore Alivia Brown trails the duo by one stroke, and is tied for 47th (+5, 77).

Sophomore Bree Wanderscheid is tied for 72nd (+11, 83), while freshman Madison Odiorne is in 76th (+13, 85).
