MARICOPA, Ariz. – The Washington State University women's golf team is in 7th place after two rounds of play at the Cowgirl Classic, Monday, at Ak-Chin Southern Dunes Golf Club.
WSU (+22, 598) shot 11-over par (299) in both rounds and leads in-state rivals Seattle (+31, 607) and Eastern Washington (+41, 617). Idaho leads the field of 19 at 6-over (582), one stroke in front of Santa Clara (+7, 583), in second. Boise State (+14, 590) rounds out the top three.
Sophomore Alivia Brown and freshman Madison Odiorne make up half of the Cougars in the top-25, and lead the team after shooting 3-over par (147) on the day. The duo is tied for 10th, one stroke ahead of junior teammate Cherokee Kim, who is tied for 15th (+4, 148).
Six strokes separate the rest of the team. Senior Nani Yanagi rounds out the top-25 at 6-over (150). Yanagi is tied for 25th with eight other golfers after shooting a second-round 73 (+2). Senior Monica Huang is tied for 47th (+9, 153) and sophomore Bree Wanderscheid is tied for 60th (+12, 156).
