WSU Tied for 11th after First Two Rounds

TUCSON, Ariz. – Led by senior Monica Huang, who is tied for 25th, Washington State is tied for 11th at 23-over par, 599, after two of three rounds, Monday, at the Arizona Wildcat Invitational at Sewailo Golf Club.

Thirteenth-ranked Arizona State pulled ahead of tournament-host, No. 12 Arizona (-1, 575) to lead after two rounds at 2-under par (574). Forty-fifth ranked Purdue (+6, 582), No. 21 UNLV (+8, 584) and No. 35 Miami (+9, 585) round out the top five.

The Cougars are tied with New Mexico State. Pac-12 opponent, No. 19 Colorado trails WSU by a stroke and sits in 13th at 24-over par (600).

A native of Qualicum Beach, B.C., Huang shot 4-over par (148) through two rounds and trails leader Linnea Strom of Arizona State (-9, 135) by 13 strokes. Sophomore Bree Wanderscheid (Goldendale, Wash.) is one stroke behind Huang and is tied for 33rd after shooting 5-over par (149).

Sophomore Alivia Brown (Gig Harbor, Wash.) is one stroke behind Wanderscheid at 6-over par (150) and tied for 42nd. Freshman Madison Odiorne (Bend, Ore.) is tied for 52nd (+8, 152), while junior Cherokee Kim (DuPont, Wash.) is 65th (+12, 156).
