WSU Basketball Alumna Competing for Germany

PULLMAN, Wash. – Washington State women's basketball alumna Ireti Amojo earned a spot on the German women's national team, earlier this month and has been competing with Germany on a tour through China since July 18.

Amojo and Germany recently completed their first of two tournaments in the northern city of Xilinhot, China. The Germans fell to host-country China, 77-58, in the first game of the Four Nations Tournament, Friday. Germany bounced back Saturday with a 73-65 victory over Puerto Rico, Saturday, as Amojo scored five points. Germany went on to beat Italy, 73-70, Sunday, behind nine points from Amojo.

Amojo, a native of Berlin, played for the Cougars from 2009-2013. In her time at WSU, Amojo appeared in 76 games and made 37 starts. She scored 442 points, grabbed 137 rebounds and recorded 88 assists, 44 steals and two blocks. While in Pullman, she was a three-time all-academic selection and named a Pac-12 All-Freshmen Team selection.

The four national teams will now travel to Hengshui, China and play from July 29-July 31. Germany will face China, Wednesday, before playing Puerto Rico, Thursday, and Italy, Friday.
