TEMPE, Ariz. – Redshirt-senior Sang Lee carded an even 70 in the final round of play at the ASU Thunderbird Invitational, Saturday, as the Washington State University men's golf team finished in 13th place. The Cougars shot 13-over par (293) in the third round, bringing their three-round total to 873 (+33) at Arizona State's par-70 Karsten Golf Course. “It just wasn't a good tournament for us,” WSU Head Coach Garrett Clegg said. “You have ups and downs at different times. Right now we're down, and we played poorly. We need to regroup and put some work in over these next couple weeks. We've got to work on a lot of things and get better.”
Redshirt-senior Sang Lee provided the Cougars with their best score of the day. Lee started off 2-under par through 13 holes before carding a par of bogeys at the end of the round to finish even with par (70). Coupled with a 5-over 145 through the opening 36 holes, Lee finished tied for 28th at 5-over (215).
Freshman Derek Bayley struggled in the final round, carding a 76 (+6), but was WSU's second-best golfer on the weekend, finishing 9-over (219) and tied for 47th place. Senior Michael Anderson and junior Bhurinat Songpaiboon both finished 5-over (75), Saturday. Anderson (+10, 220) carded nine birdies on the weekend, the most of any Cougar, and finished the tournament tied for 52nd. Songpaiboon (+13, 223) finished tied for 64th place. Senior Charlie Mroz carded his best round of the tournament, Saturday, shooting 3-over (73). Mroz finished tied for 59th place with a three-round 222 (+12).
