WSU Swimming Falls to Stanford

STANFORD, Calif. – In its first dual meet of the season, the Washington State swimming team fell to Pac-12 foe Stanford by a score of 147-104.

Cougar freshman Elise Locke led the way with her first-place finish in the 500 free (5:05.48). Heather Morlan, Emma Ronczkowski, and Haley Anderson finished second, third, and fourth, respectively in the same event.

Also contributing to the Cougar effort with event victories were Emma Johansson and Presley Wetterstrom. Johansson, a senior, swam the 100 fly with a time of 56.67 seconds to finish first. Wetterstrom, a sophomore, placed first in the 400 IM with a time of 4:41.99.

The Washington State 400 free relay team championed the final event of the dual meet. The relay team, composed of Johansson, Haley Rose Love, Alison Mand, and Nicole Proulx notched a time of 3:31.53.

The Cougar swimming team will compete again Friday in Berkeley, Calif., against California. The dual meet is set to begin at 1 p.m.
