CORVALLIS, Ore. - In its final match of the season the Washington State men's golf team took ninth in the Pac-12 Men's Golf Championship, Sunday.

Sliding back two spots on the leader board, the Cougars struggled in their fourth and final round. They walked away with a fourth-round total of 387 (+27), 16 strokes above any of their previous rounds in the tournament. Overall as a team, they posted a cumulative score of 1483 (+43), which was good enough to best teams from Arizona, Arizona State and Utah.

"We played real solid golf for three rounds," commented Washington State Head Coach Garrett Clegg. "Today was unfortunate, we would've liked to finish much better. It's not where we ended the tournament that is disappointing, if we would've played well all the way through and still ended in ninth that would have been fine. But it is disappointing to end our season with that round and in that way."

The team title went to sixth-ranked California (1428, -12) after narrowly edging out 11th-ranked Oregon (1428, -12) in a two round playoff. Stanford's Andrew Yun took the individual honors, carding a four-round score of 275 (-13).

The top finisher from Washington State proved to be junior Hank Frame, who closed out the tournament with a 2-over 74 in round four. Frame placed tied for 32nd with a total score of 295 (+7).

Other Cougars in the competition were freshman Michael Anderson, tied for 35th (296, +8), senior Trent Sanders, 41st (298, +10), senior Branden Dalton, tied for 43rd (300, +12), sophomore Jarrett Foote, tied for 47th (301, +13) and sophomore Kent Hagen, tied for 62nd (307, +19).

"This experience will hopefully make them better for next year," added Clegg. "We are really looking forward to what's in store for this team and this program for the future. For the four guys on this trip who are coming back there is lots of optimism for next year."
