BRADENTON, Fla. - The Washington State men's golf team claimed its match during the second day of the 2012 Callaway Collegiate Match Play Championship at The Concession Golf Club, Monday.

The 16th-seeded Cougars prevailed over host South Florida, the No. 12 seed, 3-2 in their third round of the championship.

After winning both his matches during day one, redshirt-freshman Sang Lee continued his winning streak, defeating South Florida's Trey Valentine 3 and 2. Lee is playing in the number one slot for Washington State and has bested the number one player from No. 1 seed Arkansas, No. 8 Iowa and No. 12 South Florida.

"Sang has had absolutely impressive performances," commented Cougar head coach Garrett Clegg. "In his second collegiate start, he has gone up against three top players and has a 3-0 record. I'm very proud of him."

Washington State sophomore Kent Hagen also recorded a win, defeating the Bulls' Bodi Karsono 2-up. Freshman Michael Anderson rounded out the Cougar wins by taking Rick Kittelstad of South Flordia 4 and 2.

"I'm thrilled about our performance," stated Clegg. "We had a tough match today but we were able to hang on and put them away."

Clegg added, "Tomorrow we need to get ahead early. But with the way we've been playing I think we have a really good shot."

Tuesday the Cougars will take on No. 15 seed UNC Wilmington, in their fourth match of the tournament. Tee time is slated for 8:30 a.m. Eastern/5:30 a.m. Pacific.
