TEAM Results Round 1
PLAYER Results Round 1
NORTH PLAINS, Ore. - Play was suspended due to darkness during Monday's second round of the Pac-12 Preview. As the tournament stood after the first day, the Washington State men's golf team was in ninth place (+5) with several holes left to play in the second round. The second round will be resumed beginning at 8 a.m. Tuesday morning.
The Cougar men climbed two positions on the team leaderboard after the first round where they finished 11th in the 12-team field. The only teams to completely finish the second round were California (first place, -18) and Colorado (12th, +18).
The WSU men were led by senior Hank Frame through the first day. Frame shot even par (72) in the first round, and did not complete the second round because of the tournament delay. At the time of the delay, Frame had two holes left to play and was 3-under par, leaving him 3-under for the day. Jarrett Foote also shot 72 in the first round for the Cougars, and he and Frame were both tied for 19th place at the conclusion of the round. Foote was able to finish his second round before the time delay (75, +3).
"We had a solid opening nine holes today, but then we went into a funk," Head Coach Garrett Clegg said. "We played nine really poor holes. After that, though, we snapped out of it and played decent in the afternoon. Blake Snyder had a great round, and hopefully Hank can finish his round strong with a birdie. We are playing good golf, but we need to stay focused and get off to a good start tomorrow morning."
Junior Blake Snyder paved the way for the Cougar men in the second round. Snyder finished his second round before the tournament delay (-5, 67) and finished the day 2-over.
There are 26 players that did not finish the second round because of the darkness delay. These players will begin with an 8 a.m. shotgun start Tuesday to complete the holes they did not get to Monday. The third round will then begin with foursomes on the first, ninth, and 13th holes starting at 8:21 a.m. Live scoring will be available at golfstat.com for the duration of the tournament. Results will also be posted online at wsucougars.com at the tournament's conclusion.
