STANFORD, Calif. — Washington State University dropped a 75-41 Pac-12 Conference contest at No. 4/4 Stanford University Thursday evening.

Washington State dropped to 9-9 overall and 3-3 in conference play while Stanford improved to 16-1, 7-0 in the Pac-12. Freshman forward Shale Dheensaw led the Cougs with a career-high seven points off the bench. The Cardinal shot 42.3 percent, forced 18 turnovers and limited the Cougs to 27.7 percent from the floor.

WSU executed well on both ends of the floor for most of the first half before the Cardinal made a late run that ended the Cougars momentum. Washington State traded baskets with the Cardinal early on as junior forward Carly Noyes opened the game with a bucket and senior Jazmine Perkins added a three from the right wing. Minutes later, WSU used a 6-0 spurt to take a 13-9 lead as sophomore Sage Romberg took a pass from senior guard Rosetta Adzasu and layed one in. Dheensaw followed with a rebound putback before Adzasu capped the spurt with a driving layup to give the Cougs a 13-9 lead.

Adzasu would add another driving layin with a nice finish high off the glass before the Cardinal settled in and used its size advantage to take control of the game. Stanford would put together a 15-0 run to build a double-digit lead and eventually close the half on at 17-2 run and take a 31-20 advantage into the half.

Freshman guard Tia Presley opened the second half with a long three but the Cougs struggled to break down the tough Cardinal defense and Stanford went on to post the conference win.

Forwards Nnemkadi Ogwumike led the Cardinal with 22 points and 10 rebounds while Chiney Ogwumike finished with 19 points and 12 rebounds.

The Cougs wrap up their Bay area road trip against California, 3:30 p.m. Sunday. The game will be nationally televised by Fox Sports Net/ROOT Sports.
