10-21-11 WSU-USC Results 
PULLMAN, Wash. - In front of an enthusiastic home crowd at Gibb Pool, the Washington State swim team went head-to-head with the team from USC, Friday. The Trojans, who finished third nationally last season, won the dual meet with a score of 120-74.
In the first dual meet between the Cougars and Trojans, the USC swim team set five Gibb Pool records, and achieved two NCAA "B" standards. The NCAA marks both came in the 200 fly by Katinka Hosszu (1:57.12) and Tanya Krisman (1:59.56). Hosszu's time in the event also broke a Gibb Pool record. Other Gibb Pool records were set in the 1000 free, 500 free, 200 free and 200 IM.
Freshman Haley Anderson was the highest individual scorer for the Cougars and the third highest in the meet, bringing in 11 points. Washington State senior Jessie Craig ended the night with nine individual points, putting her in a tie for fourth place. Junior teammates Evelina Bieleckaite and Shelbi Luchini, scoring seven points apiece, rounded out the top 10 individual finishers, tied for eighth place.
The Cougars had their strongest showing in the 200 free and the 50 free events. In the 200 free senior Emma Neely placed second with a time of 1:54.06; and in the 50 free Bieleckaite also took second with a time of 24.38.
"Our kids swam well, had some great finishes. I think we are further ahead of where we thought we would be," stated first year Washington State Head Coach Tom Jager. "We have a very coachable team, I'm looking forward to tomorrow. This was a good start to our season, and it's one of the larger crowds I've seen here."
The Cougar swim team returns to the pool to face off with USC Saturday in Gibb Pool. The official Cougs Wave Pink Meet will have events starting at 11 a.m.
